1.OPTOCOUPLERS
At a glance we will see a difference between them. The new optocoupler has a base connection that allow us to implement the new configuration for transmit and receive information to / from master. In detail, new configuration is using optocoupler in LINEAR mode , while the old optocoupler is used in Saturated mode, which operating current through LED drawn from MDB bus is greatly increased compared to LINEAR mode. Linear mode has a Current transfer ratio > 100% while Satured mode has Current transfer ratio < 100%. This difference in operating mode brings benefit to reliability.
The figure below represents switching times of both optocouplers. We see that for new optocouplers the switching times for turning off and turning on is 3uS for Rload <= 500 Ohms, in same time TLP181 (TLP185) have 20uS (turning off) and 2uS (turning on).
Regulators used in all interfaces are monolithic integrated circuits that provide all the active functions for a step-down (buck) switching regulator, capable of driving a 1.5A load with excellent line and load regulation.
Maximum input voltage recommended 36V, maximum current driving 3A,efficiency 84%.
3.Inrush current limiter
Is used for limiting inrush current drawn from master board (parallel interface or MDB bus) neccesary to activate the interface (start-up of regulator).
4.Diode and inductors
The diode is Schottky type for high efficiency , and inductors chosen have a greater valuea than recommended and a current rating greater than neccesary for a Innovative BV/NV validator.
5.IDC connectors
IDC connectors gold plated with right angle used for an easy install in a vending machine.
6.Transistors
High speed switching transistors used in all interfaces parallel or MDB type. Using this type of transistors in an MDB interface, we improve the frequency response of overall transmision providing an undistorted output pulse.
